1 (054:1) Pou chèf sanba yo. Se yon chante David (054:2) te ekri lè moun peyi Zif yo te al di Sayil men David kache lakay yo. (054:3) Bondye, delivre m' non avèk pouvwa ou! Fè m' jistis avèk fòs kouraj ou! 2 (054:4) Bondye, koute m' non lè m'ap lapriyè! Panche zòrèy ou pou tande pawòl k'ap soti nan bouch mwen! 3 (054:5) Paske gen yon seri moun awogan ki leve dèyè m', yon bann mechan ki soti pou touye m'! Yo pa menm chonje si gen Bondye! 4 (054:6) Men, Bondye ap vin ede m'. Seyè a ap pran defans mwen. 5 (054:7) L'ap fè mechanste moun ki pa vle wè m' yo tonbe sou tèt yo; l'ap fini nèt ak yo paske l'ap toujou kenbe pawòl li. 6 (054:8) Seyè, m'a ofri bèt pou yo touye pou ou ak kè kontan, m'a fè lwanj ou, paske ou bon pou mwen. 7 (054:9) Ou delivre m' anba tray mwen te ye a; ou fè m' wè lènmi m' yo pèdi batay la.

3. strangers--perhaps Ziphites.

oppressors--literally, "terrible ones" (Is 13:11; 25:3). Such were Saul and his army.

not set ... them--acted as atheists, without God's fear (compare Psa 16:8).

with them--on their side, and for me (compare Psa 46:11).

in thy truth--Thy verified promise.

6. I will freely, &c.--or, present a freewill offering (Le 7:16; Nu 15:3).

7. mine eye ... desire--(compare Psa 59:10; 112:8), expresses satisfaction in beholding the overthrow of his enemies as those of God, without implying any selfish or unholy feeling (compare Psa 52:6, 7).
