1 (04:1) Pou chèf sanba yo. Se sou enstriman akòd pou yo jwe mizik la. Se yon sòm David. (04:2) Lè m' rele ou, reponn mwen non, Bondye, ou menm k'ap fè m' jistis! Lè m' te nan tèt chaje, ou te vin ede m'. Gen pitye pou mwen. Koute lapriyè mwen. 2 (04:3) Nou menm menm lèzòm, kilè n'a sispann trennen non m' nan labou! Kilè n'a sispann renmen bagay ki pa vo anyen! Kilè n'a sispann kouri dèyè bagay ki pa vre! 3 (04:4) Pa bliye, se Seyè a ki chwazi m' pou moun pa li. Seyè a tande m' lè mwen rele l'. 4 (04:5) Se pou nou tranble tèlman nou pè, se pou n' sispann fè sa ki mal. Lè nou pou kont nou nan chanm nou, kalkile sou sa. Epi pe bouch nou. 5 (04:6) Ofri bèt Seyè a mande pou yo touye pou li. Mete konfyans nou nan li! 6 (04:7) Gen anpil moun k'ap di: -Jan nou ta renmen Bondye beni nou! Tanpri, Seyè, fè nou santi ou la avèk nou! 7 (04:8) Kontantman ou mete nan kè m' pi gwo pase kontantman ki nan kè lèzòm lè yo gen anpil manje ak anpil bwason. 8 (04:9) Mwen moute kabann mwen ak kè poze. Kou m' kouche, dòmi pran m'. Seyè, se ou menm sèl ki p'ap janm kite anyen rive m'.

PSALM 4

Psa 4:1-8. On Neginoth, that is, stringed instruments, as the kind of musical accompaniment. On other parts of title, see Introduction., The historical occasion was probably the same as that of the foregoing [see on Psa 3:1]. The writer, praying for further relief, admonishes his enemies of the vanity of attacking God's servant, exhorts them to repentance, and avows his confidence and peace in God's favor.

1. Hear--as in Psa 3:4.

God of my righteousness--or, "my righteous God, as my holy hill" (Psa 2:6), who will act towards me on righteous principles.

thou hast enlarged--expresses relief afforded in opposition to "distress," which is expressed by a word denoting straits or pressure. Past favor is a ground of hope for the future.

2. sons of men--men of note or prominence (compare 2Ch 21:9).

turn my glory--or, "royal dignity."

into shame--or, "reproach."

vanity--a foolish and hopeless enterprise (Psa 2:1).

leasing--a lie.

3. godly--an object as well as subject of divine favor (compare Psa 105:14, 15).

4. Stand in awe--(Ep 4:26), from Septuagint, "be angry." Both clauses are qualified by "not."

5. Not only repent, but manifest penitence by sacrifices or righteousness or righteous sacrifices, &c.

6-7. Contrast true with vain confidence.

light of thy countenance upon us--figure for favor (Nu 6:26; Psa 44:3; 81:16).

8. both lay me down, &c.--or, will lie down at once, and sleep in sure confidence and quiet repose (Psa 3:5).
