1 Los cielos proclaman la gloria de Dios, y el firmamento anuncia la obra de sus manos. 2 Un día comunica su mensaje a otro día, y una noche transmite su saber a otra noche. 3 No hay mensaje ni palabras; no se oye su voz. 4 Por toda la tierra se extiende su trazo, y hasta el confín del mundo, sus palabras. En ellos ha puesto una tienda para el sol. 5 Este es como un novio que sale de su cámara nupcial; se alegra como un hombre fuerte al correr su carrera. 6 Sale de un extremo de los cielos y su recorrido llega hasta sus confines; nada se oculta de su calor. 7 La ley de Jehová es perfecta y restaura el alma; el testimonio de Jehová es fiel y hace sabio al sencillo. 8 Los preceptos de Jehová son rectos y alegran el corazón; el mandamiento de Jehová es puro y alumbra los ojos. 9 El temor de Jehová es puro y permanece para siempre; los juicios de Jehová son verdad y todos ellos son justos. 10 Son más deseables que el oro, más que mucho oro fino; más dulces que la miel y que la miel que destila de los panales. 11 También tu siervo es advertido por ellos; en guardarlos hay gran recompensa. 12 ¿Quién puede discernir sus errores? Absuélveme de las faltas ocultas. 13 Preserva también a tu siervo de los pecados de soberbia; que no me dominen. Entonces seré íntegro y quedaré libre de gran rebelión. 14 Sean aceptables ante ti las palabras de mi boca y la meditación de mi corazón, Jehová, roca mía y redentor mío.

Salmos 19:1

PSALM 19

Psa 19:1-14. After exhibiting the harmonious revelation of God's perfections made by His works and His word, the Psalmist prays for conformity to the Divine teaching.

1. the glory of God--is the sum of His perfections (Psa 24:7-10; Ro 1:20).

firmament--another word for "heavens" (Ge 1:8).

handywork--old English for "work of His hands."

2. uttereth--pours forth as a stream; a perpetual testimony.

3. Though there is no articulate speech or words, yet without these their voice is heard (compare Margin).

Salmos 19:4

4. Their line--or, "instruction"--the influence exerted by their tacit display of God's perfections. Paul (Ro 10:18), quoting from the Septuagint, uses "sound," which gives the same sense.

Salmos 19:5-6

5-6. The sun, as the most glorious heavenly body, is specially used to illustrate the sentiment; and his vigorous, cheerful, daily, and extensive course, and his reviving heat (including light), well display the wondrous wisdom of his Maker.

Salmos 19:7-9

7-9. The law is described by six names, epithets, and effects. It is a rule, God's testimony for the truth, His special and general prescription of duty, fear (as its cause) and judicial decision. It is distinct and certain, reliable, right, pure, holy, and true. Hence it revives those depressed by doubts, makes wise the unskilled (2Ti 3:15), rejoices the lover of truth, strengthens the desponding (Psa 13:4; 34:6), provides permanent principles of conduct, and by God's grace brings a rich reward.

Salmos 19:12-14

12-14. The clearer our view of the law, the more manifest are our sins. Still for its full effect we need divine grace to show us our faults, acquit us, restrain us from the practice, and free us from the power, of sin. Thus only can our conduct be blameless, and our words and thoughts acceptable to God.
